YOP Week 1

Premier Yarns: Deborah Norville Serenity Garden Sport in Grass
Premier Yarns: Deborah Norville
Serenity Garden Sport in Grass
My main goal for YOP (Year of Projects) is to use yarn that's been lingering in my stash forever.  If it is still there after many years, it is because I actually do love it but haven't found the right pattern yet.  What is this yarn going to be when it grows up?  I think it is at least 7 years old.

I have a vague memory of seeing this yarn in the store.  I fell in love with it because I LOVE green.  I just didn't know what to make with it since it is a sport weight yarn.  I decided to just buy one...groan  and I could kick myself.  I used to do that a lot but now I've learned my lesson.  When I went to get more it was all gone and it was discontinued.  I even tried to buy some on ebay a couple of times but someone else outbid me.  I am determined to turn this into something and it has to be for me.

Here is a link to my goal page which I will probably be adding to.

  1. I hope you find a project for your yarn, it is too beautiful for it not to become something wonderful. And your list is great, I'm looking forward to seeing the projects made out of all your stash yarn this coming year

    1. Thank you. I so wish I had bought a lot more of this.

  2. Is it a 50 or 100g ball? A single 50g ball definitely presents some different challenges to a 100g. I saw the Chattahoochee Hat on Rav recently which uses self striping yarn. Tempting.

    1. It's 65 grams. I found a headband pattern and I am currently knitting my 2nd one. I will probably have some left over. I'm not sure if I'll make more headbands or find something else small. I'm determined to use it up though.

  3. That’s a great set of goals. I hope you find the right project for the green yarn. Have you tried using Ravelry’s search of patterns and then set your criteria as Sport weight yarn and how much length you have. That usually helps me discover a pattern for the odd skein or two I bought on a whim. Liz (Highlandheffalump)

    1. That is exactly what I'm doing. I really hope to use up a ton of yarn.
